An oil leader, based in Houston, Texas, competes in a tight oil market by consistently assessing innovative designs and services. Despite their obvious successes, there is always a place to develop a competitive edge, or increase internal productivity.

To curb expenses, the company’s integral IT Department decided it was time to invest in necessary inventory software to improve the department’s productivity. Currently, the IT Department houses a warehouse on a large complex, where thousands of machines, computers/laptops, mice, keyboards, and headsets are stored and distributed. The department came to EMS Barcode Solutions looking for a simple and user-friendly solution that could implement to augment an unsatisfactory internal system.

Current Inventory System and The Problems

The internal system in place was a simple excel spreadsheet, which at the time, fed into a program equipped to do a simple update and inventory count. Despite the simplicity, users complained of slow update times, inaccurate counts, and lack of information of the items, such as location or serial number. And often, the users found that they would not have enough inventory to distribute items to necessary sites.
